Savings options alongside inflation

Inflation affects everyone — but whoever plans wisely does not lose, they gain. Here are 5 savings forms worth knowing in 2026.

1. LTP (home-savings plan)

The home-savings plan is still one of the safest forms. State subsidy and exemption from interest tax are major advantages.

2. Voluntary pension fund

A pension fund gives a tax allowance — you get back 20% of your contributions, up to HUF 150,000 a year, from your tax.

3. Investment funds

Investment funds guarantee nothing — but if they are diversified and long-term, the odds are good.

4. Government bonds

Hungarian government bonds are among the safest investments. The Prémium government bond is especially good — it pays above inflation.

5. Inflation-linked investments

Inflation-linked bonds and funds protect directly against rising prices.

The point: saving is not a luxury — it is a necessity. You can start with as little as HUF 10-20 thousand a month.
